Dubai Summit Aims to Enhance China/MidEast Trade Relationships

China and Hong Kong’s diamond and jewelry industry members have confirmed “massive participation” at the first-ever Middle East China Diamond and Jewellery Summit, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre said.

The summit, with its special focus on the diamond and jewelry trade between the Middle East and China, aims to enhance trade relationships across the entire value chain in both regions.

Confirmed participants include names like Chow Tai Fook, Chow Sang Sang, and Luk Fook, in addition to leaders from the Shanghai Diamond exchange, Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China ltd and Worldmart of Panyu.

Lawrence Yung Yi Ma, president of the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China ltd, said, “The Chinese jewelry industry recorded sales of $26 billion in 2007, a growth of over 11 percent from 2006. The summit will provide our members the opportunity to discover a new emerging market, while at the same time giving them a platform to develop new business relationships.”

The summit will be held November 8-9 at the Atlantis Hotel, Palm Jumeirah.
