India Rough Exports Rise Sharply in September

India imported 15.03 million carats of rough diamonds worth $958.75 million in September, increasing year-over-year 4.89 percent in volume and 30.39 percent in value. The average value of rough diamond imports reached $63.79 per carat.
Rough diamond exports from India about doubled. Exports totaled $76.9 million (+88.8%) on exports of 3.94 million carats (+116.49%), averaging $19.52 p/c (-12.82%).
In the first half of the fiscal year, the value of rough diamond imports increased 19.14 percent to $5.942 billion. Exports in the April - September period shot up 75.62 percent to $461.68 million.
