Gemesis COO McEwen Resigns
December 08, 08Gemesis Chief Operating Officer Clark McEwen announced that he will not extend his contract with the company, citing differences with the diamond making lab.
In a letter to clients dated November 25, McEwen wrote that the coming months will be a transition period. He noted the company’s achievements in the three and a half years that he spent with the Gemesis. Among them are a shift in attitude by the diamond industry to their product and the company’s transformation “from a technical operation with a research facility to a diamond company with a production facility.”
McEwen, who managed the diamond program CanadaMark at BHP Billiton, wrote in his letter “Due to the fact that the company’s direction, corporate culture and management philosophies are no longer in alignment with my own, I felt that it was necessary for me to make the move.”
