Thai Online Sourcing Project Eases International Buyers’ Experience
December 24, 08The Thai Gem and Jewelry Association (TGJA) and its subsidiary, the Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, have introduced the Online Sourcing Project (OSP) in an effort to make the ins and outs of local business easier on international gem and jewelry buyers.
First offered during the past September fair, the OSP is a service that connects international buyers, helps them schedule local meetings and provides vital trade information about Thailand’s gem and jewelry industry.
While the OSP is a tool that helps guide international buyers during local trade fairs, such as the upcoming Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, scheduled for February 25 to March 1, 2009, it also provides an online roadmap of the local industry during the year.
“We realized that while during our bi-annual fairs, visitors are given a show catalogue and floor plan to help them find their way around and locate their vendors, but that during the rest of the year, they were left to their own devices,” says Somchai Phornchindarak, CEO of the Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair. “With the need to provide a connection throughout the year in mind, we created OSP, to help buyers find Thai gems and jewelry in the most effective and convenient way possible, 365 days a year.”
The OSP service can coordinate private buyers’ meetings, offers selective email information blasting by subscription and recently launched a regular OSP news service. It is available for anyone who registers, at www.ospgemsjewelry.com.
