Shore Gold’s Fort a la Corne Sample Produces 400 carats

A Shore Gold bulk sampling of the Orion South Kimberlite, within Fort a la Corne yielded 38 diamonds greater than one carat. Three of them weigh more than three carats and a fourth stone 2.66 carats.

 

The three largest stones weigh 3.61 carats, 3.31 carats and 3.03 carats. The diamond recoveries total 398.38 carats from 4,406 dry tons of kimberlite processed.

 

The sample resulted in 2,868 commercial sized diamonds (greater than 1.18 millimeter square mesh screen), collectively weighing 397.82 carats. The color of 39 percent of the diamonds has been classified as white, with a further 42 percent classified as off-white, Shore said in a release.

 

The Fort a la Corne joint venture partners are Shore Gold (60%) and Newmont Mining (40%).
