Zale Settles Lawsuit Over 'Love Rocks'
February 19, 09Dallas-Zale Corp. has reached a settlement in the recent trademark infringement lawsuit filed over its use of the phrase "Love Rocks" in advertising campaigns, a spokesman for Zale confirmed on Wednesday.
While he did not disclose any settlement details, Zale spokesman David Sternblitz confirmed the settlement via an e-mail to National Jeweler.
Love Rocks by JAGS claimed that Zale's use of the phrase "Love Rocks" in its advertising infringed upon its trademark rights to the name and was asking the court to issue a preliminary injunction to bar Zale and Love Diamonds from further use of "Love Rocks" and to award monetary damages.
In the suit, Zale contended that it had the right to use the term "Love Rocks" through a license with New York-based Love Diamonds LLC.
