New Sarin Software Promises to Improve Yield, Quality
August 25, 09Sarin Technologies Ltd. has released a software package that improves the yield and quality of diamonds during the polishing process, the company announced Monday. The software package, dubbed Instructor, runs on Sarin’s polished diamond measuring equipment.
The Instructor software assesses the stone during various phases of the polishing process to verify that it meets pre-defined quality parameters and determines the projected cut grade of the diamond.
The software provides corrective action instructions, based on which parts of the stone remain to be polished and which have already been completed.
The Instructor will warn the user if the cut grade of the diamond is a borderline case as well as advise of possible changes to the polishing plan, which may upgrade the cut grade.
Sarin also says that its new software has the capacity to analyze possible deviations from the originally approved polishing “blueprint” in order to further increase value, including proposing possible asymmetrical solutions, which may increase yield significantly.
“Up to now, there have been difficulties in achieving optimal execution of polishing, guaranteeing best yield and highest quality,” said Akiva Caspi, VP marketing and business development, who believes the software will give manufacturers better control over the polishing process, a stage of the diamond’s manufacturing previously not sufficiently addressed by Sarin’s high-technology solutions.
The release of Instructor follows the release of the upgraded rough diamond planning software Advisor IV.
