Henry Dunay Closing, But Namesake to Stick Around
November 26, 09
After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June, Henry Dunay Designs is officially shuttering, with the company's inventory set to be auctioned off on December 16, the designer confirmed.
Despite the company's closure, Dunay will not be retreating from the industry, he told National Jeweler.
"I will still be around, I will be doing jewelry on a smaller scale [in terms of] the size of the business-special orders, custom pieces," he said. "They're not getting rid of me yet."
Henry Dunay Designs filed a voluntary bankruptcy petition form with the court earlier this summer.
While Dunay is unsure at this point as to the naming of his next venture, he will continue to maintain a presence online, and can be reached for special orders via the same phone numbers that have been used for Henry Dunay Designs: (800) 888-2525 or (212) 768-9700.
In business since 1965 and the winner of more than 50 national and international awards, including "World's Best Jewelry Designer" by Robb Report in 2000 and 2001, Dunay remains optimistic, especially given the amount of support he has received from clients, including one who sent over a list of prayers that he had said for Dunay.
"What's really amazing to me is the amount of people that have contacted me," Dunay said. "They're really upset over the situation and hoping that I will still be around."
