A total of $111,280 has been raised by Jewelers of America (JA) and Jewelers for Children (JFC) to assist relief efforts in the wake of Haiti’s devastating earthquake, the associations announced Thursday. The groups had announced 10 days ago that it would match all contributions up to $30,000.
JFC will distribute the contributions to the Haiti relief funds of three organizations: Direct Relief International, Save the Children and The American Red Cross International Response Fund.
The tragic aftermath of Haiti's 7.0 earthquake has left the small Caribbean country in ruins. The Pan American Health Organization has estimated that 50,000 to 100,000 people perished in the quake.
