CIBJO Diamond Commission Calls for Joint Nomenclature on Synthetic Diamonds
February 10, 10The Diamond Commission of The World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) has reiterated the need for an industry-wide agreement on nomenclature that distinguishes between natural and lab-made diamonds. The Commission made the call in its annual report, published Wednesday.
To investigate whether progress can be made to create such nomenclature, Udi Sheintal and Jon Phillips, the respective president and vice president of the Diamond Commission, will be meeting with representatives of the International Diamond Council in
"Hopefully all participating parties will concur that the lack of an agreed to nomenclature for diamonds - natural and synthetic - ultimately will affect consumer confidence negatively across the globe," the two said in a joint statement.
