Bidz: FTC Ends Email Marketing Investigation
April 11, 10Online retailer Bidz.com said that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has decided to end its investigation relating to Bidz’s email marketing practices.
The FTC launched the investigation last May after it received complaints that Bidz did not honor opt-out requests by people who wanted to stop receiving marketing and advertising emails by the company.
Not honoring requests to opt-out of a mailing list advertising, marketing and promoting a company’s products or services by emails is a violation of the CAN-SPAM law.
The FTC’s decision follows a court ruling that denied a class action request against Bidz that alleged, among other things, that the company engaged in unfair business practices. As a result of this ruling, Bidz settled the class action lawsuit for cash.
