In addition to on-site grading services, the Hong Kong lab will also provide laser inscription and diamond sealing services.
GIA said that services that will not be provided at the Hong Kong lab – such as grading of diamonds weighing more than 3.00 carats, colored diamonds, colored gemstones and pearls – will be transferred to another GIA laboratory and returned to the Hong Kong facility.
GIA has a service center in Hong Kong that provided courses as well as a lab take-in services. That location will close.
“This new location will make it possible for us to provide even quicker service to our clients,” said Tom Moses, senior vice president of GIA Laboratory and Research.
The new laboratory will open in the New World Tower on Queen’s Road, Central.
