Blue Nile Moves in on Retailers with Diamond Shopping App
September 28, 10The free Blue Nile App allows customers to search for diamonds based on table and depth percentages, length to width ratio, polish and symmetry, girdle, culet, fluorescence and price per carat. They can also view available diamonds, connect to Blue Nile's Diamond & Jewelry consultants and purchase a diamond through their Apple device.
Another feature of the app includes the option to read educational materials on diamonds characteristics.
As if Blue Nile was not viewed as a large threat already, store retailers will now see consumers stand in their store and compare prices on the spot, something CEO Diane Irvine was very open about. “We feel the Blue Nile App will be a game-changer in the way consumers shop for diamonds and will be a disruptive force in the diamond industry moving forward," she said.
A key section of the Blue Nile App is the Dream Box. App users can simply shake their device and the Dream Box will randomly select a photo of a Blue Nile ring. They can then view each ring's setting details, including metal type, number of diamonds, and price. If they like the ring, it can be saved, emailed and shared on Facebook.
