Alrosa Sales Exceed 2008 Levels
October 11, 10According to preliminary results published by the company, its net profit for the period is 5.6 billion rubles ($187.7 million), compared to a loss of 8.8 billion rubles ($295 million) in the comparable 2009 period.
In early September, Alrosa said it sold $2.565 billion worth of polished and rough diamonds in the first eight months of 2010, expecting $215 million in sales. The discrepancy in figures should be at least partially be attributed to fluctuations in the ruble to U.S. dollar exchange rate.
Alrosa is planning an IPO, and as part of its efforts, started to report its results regularly, far from its thick veil of secrecy in the past.
