India’s H1 Net Polished Diamond Exports $5.25 Billion

(IDEX Online News) - India’s net polished diamond exports totaled $887.31 million in October, based on provisional data released Tuesday by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). The volume of net exports, 2.47 million carats, averaged $359.24 per carat.

India’s gross polished diamond exports totaled $2.07 billion, shipping out 5.1 million carats of polished in October. This is a 37.6 percent increase in value from last year and a 28.6 percent increase in volume. The average value of gross exports stood at $403.48 p/c.

Gross cut and polished diamond exports for the first half of fiscal 2010-11 (April-October) were $14.82 billion, up 57 percent from the $9.4 billion in the prior year. In carat terms, exports registered a 13.62 percent growth to 36.5 million carats from 32.1 million carats last year.

Net exports of polished increased to 14.4 million carats worth $5.25 billion.
