Zimbabwe Soliciting Offers for Its Rough Diamonds

(IDEX Online News) - Rough diamonds mined by Mbada and Canadile at the Marange diamond concessions are being offered to diamond buyers. While the export status of the goods is unclear, the country is seeking bids for the goods, a number of sources confirmed to IDEX Online.
It’s not clear if the goods are among those that were KP certified earlier this month by the KP Monitor, Abbey Chikane.
Meanwhile, negotiations to allow the country’s production at Marange to be exported with the full backing of the international community are in high gear.
After a draft agreement was reached by one side - participants in the KP’s Working Group on Monitoring (WGM), now the agreement needs to be presented to the government of Zimbabwe. It may or may not accept the amended agreement.
