Pink Sets Record at Hong Kong Auction
November 30, 10The pink diamond was the highlight of the Monday jewels auction. The diamond, dubbed The Perfect Pink, is a VVS2, Type IIa fancy intense pink rectangular-cut diamond. Its hammer price was $23.17 million.
“The strength of the jewelry market was once again demonstrated in Hong Kong with a record $78.9 million auction, making it the highest total ever for a jewelry auction in Asia and the largest at Christie's worldwide,” said Vickie Sek, Director of the Jewellery and Jadeite Department, Christie’s Asia.
Other top items sold at the auction include a necklace set with a 12.29 carats, D / IF, Type IIa pear-shaped Golconda diamond that sold for $3.6 million to a private Asian buyer and a 16.72 carats D / IF Type IIa marquise-cut diamond that fetched $3.1 million, an average of $186,267 p/c.
