WFDB President Sends Condolences to Japan, Offers Help
March 14, 11(IDEX Online News) - World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) President Avi Paz has sent his condolences to the people of Japan and the Japanese diamond community following the earthquake and tsunami the country went through on Friday.
Paz said in a release today (Monday) that “the global diamond industry is with the people of Japan at such a difficult time and as it attempted to recover from the enormous blow which had led to the deaths of thousands of people.”
"We have all been shocked and horrified by the pictures we have seen following the earthquakes and the tsunami," Paz said. "Our hearts go out to the people of Japan at this terrible time, particularly to the families of those who have perished.
No members of the Japanese diamond trade had been affected by the disaster, according to Paz.
The WFDB said it is offering any support that it could provide to the Tokyo Diamond Exchange.”The WFDB is a global family and we all come together at times like these,” Paz said. “On behalf of the WFDB, I would like to send my heartfelt best wishes for a speedy recovery, and to offer any help and support to our colleagues in Japan, particularly to our friends and colleagues at the Tokyo Diamond Exchange."
