Jewelers for Children Supports Relief Efforts in Japan
March 23, 11(IDEX Online News) - Jewelers for Children (JFC), the U.S. jewelry industry’s charity, has announced they have made a $25,000 donation to Save the Children to support relief efforts in the devastated areas of Japan. The organization has also received pledges from donors for additional support directed towards the disaster, including support from Sterling Jewelers that will be forwarded to Save the Children in the coming weeks.
“Everyone has been moved by the news and the pictures from Japan. As the industry’s charity with our mission to support children in need, it’s only natural that we step up and help the recovery effort get underway” said Ed Bridge, JFC Chairman.
Save the Children, the U.S.-based non-profit organization dedicated to creating lasting change in the lives of children in need, has been a JFC recipient charity in the past following the devastating Asian tsunami and the earthquake in Haiti. Save the Children is already responding in Japan to help the youngest victims of the disasters.
“With the on-going support of this great industry, JFC will be making a difference in the lives of the children involved in this tragic event. We know of no better organization that Save the Children to represent the industry’s support in the relief effort.” added Bridge.
