Belgium's Polished Exports Continues Growth in June

(IDEX Online News) – Belgium exported a net of $31.9 million worth of polished in June, an 8.7% increase from last year, based on figures released by the AWDC.

The value of gross polished diamond exports increased by 38.3% to $1.51 billion, while the volume increased by 21.6% to 827,860 carats.

Imports by the Antwerp diamond center worth $1.48 billion increased by 39.1% on shipments of 910,348 carats.

The difference in the average value between imports and exports – viewed as a measurement to the center's added value – is 12.3%, rising from $1,622.80 p/c to $1,823.06 p/c.

In the first six months of 2011, Belgium's net exports stands at $310.9 million, soaring 45.9% from 2010.

Gross polished diamond exports of $5.35 billion are a 37.3% increase.

Exports to Hong Kong had the steepest increase, rising by 44.5% as expectations from the June trade fair was exceptionally high.
