Inaugural UBM Mumbai Trade Show Kicks Off

(IDEX Online News) – The first Mumbai Jewellery & Gem Fair (MJGF) organized by the UBM group got under way today with over 250 exhibitors, including firms from Italy, Belgium, Israel, Thailand and Hong Kong.

Though small and slotted as a niche event, the show leverages UBM's global reach and brings a raft of overseas gem and jewelry firms together with Indian retailers. The three-day show already has a measure of retailer buy-in with the All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) running a series of industry-related seminars over all three days.

First day footfalls were light but exhibitors were not unduly put out. They expect a heavier turnout over the weekend. The show features the IJ Choice Design Awards, which will be announced at an event tomorrow (Saturday).
