Botswana’s Diamond Exports Reach $4 Bln
December 20, 11(IDEX Online News) – Botswana exported $288 million worth of rough and polished diamonds in October, according to a Botswana monthly central bank report published by the Bank of Botswana.
Exports were revived in October, rising 72.7 percent as compared to the September when exports were unusually low. Year-over-year, exports declined 6.5 percent.
In the first ten months of the year, Botswana exported nearly $4 billion worth of rough and polished diamonds. This is a sharp increase from 2010, when exports in the January-October period totaled $2.36 billion.
