Lower Assortments and Prices at DTC January Sight

(IDEX Online News) – The Diamond Trading Company has changed the make-up of its boxes, reducing the average size of the goods in the boxes offered at its Sight this week. The reduction resulted in a general decrease in prices.

DTC Sightholders in London for the first Sight of 2012 found that the price of most boxes is 2-13 percent lower, and in a couple of cases 30 percent below December prices.

Sightholders told IDEX Online that DTC had a real price reduction in many boxes, not just a result of lower cost assortments. Sightholders estimated the real price decrease at a few percents. They will know for sure only after they sort the goods at leisure back in their offices. The DTC did not announce a price reduction.

Prices of about a third of the offered lots at BHP Billiton's auction this month were also decreased while bidders paid mid- to high-single digit more for the rest.
