Botswana: Third Month of Diamond Export Increases
May 01, 12(IDEX Online News) – Botswana exported $411.3 million worth of rough and polished diamonds in March, the third consecutive month-over-month increase in exports from the diamond producing country. However, year-over-year, exports declined.
March diamond exports increased 34.2 percent compared to February yet fell 11.1 percent compared to March 2011 when exports reached a high $462.5 million, based on figures published by the Bank of Botswana.
In the first quarter of 2012, Botswana exported $826.8 million worth of diamonds, down from $1.13 billion in the first quarter of 2011.
