The IDEX Online Price Report, May 3 2012
May 03, 12(IDEX Online News) – Another week of unwavering loose polished diamond prices despite an increase in trading activity in some markets. In the past month, overall diamond prices increased by 0.04%, flat by all accounts, however, the true trend is downward.
Traders are offering pique goods (I1 and below) for less this week, according to the IDEX Online Polished Diamond Price Report.
- Prices of one-carat goods eased slightly in the past week, with an overall decline of about a tenth of a percent. This was most noticeable in the I1-2 items in the J-M colors.
- Two-carat pique goods in the lower I-N color ranges are selling for less this week, as are the E color 2-carat piques goods.
- Five-carat goods are the bargain hunters special, declining 3.6% in the past week after a 7.4% upward rally in the past month.
- Traders have increased prices of Princess cuts in 1.50-1.99 carat range, the hottest item of the past week.
- One carat Princess cut goods are also in rising demand, mostly for SI goods, resulting in rising prices.
