Former Botswana president Mogae Joins Board of Shrenuj

(IDEX Online News) – Festus G. Mogae is not leaving behind his ties with diamonds. The former President of Republic of Botswana has joined the board Shrenuj as an independent director.

Mogae studied economics in the United Kingdom, first at University College, Oxford, and then at the University of Sussex. He returned to Botswana to work as a civil servant before taking up posts with the International Monetary Fund and the Bank of Botswana.

He was Vice-President of Botswana from 1992 to 1998. He rose to the post of President in 1998 and served two full terms of presidency, until 2008.

He currently serves as Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General on Climate Change. In 2010, Mogae joined the Advisory Board of U.S. Nonprofit TeachAIDS.

“Mr. Mogae brings a great wealth of knowledge in areas including finance, economics, corporate governance and leadership,” said Shreyas Doshi, Chief Managing Director of Shrenuj & Co.

According to Doshi, a significant part of Shrenuj’s growth is expected from diamond producing countries. “We have fairly large manufacturing operations in Botswana and South Africa. The insight of Mr. Mogae into these producing centers will help us achieve our ambitious targets.”
