JCK Las Vegas Opens with a Buzz
June 01, 12(IDEX Online News) – The weather is not the only thing that’s heating up in Las Vegas right now. The JCK Las Vegas show opened its doors today and the first-day vibe is that the show was buzzing.
Retailers were queuing up to get onto the show floor this morning, and they seemed to be coming with the intention not just of browsing but also of buying. Foot traffic also seemed decent throughout the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Predictably, the biggest buzz of all was at the Pandora booth, which is one of the largest at the show. While passersby stopped to stare at the craftspeople making the company’s must-have beads, the sales teams were extremely busy with customers looking to get the latest collections.
From beads to the jewelry sector’s other sales driver – bridal. Many of the bridal-focused companies were busy. The Tacori booth was hectic, even after already doing three days of good business at the invitation-only Luxury show.
Down the Strip, the Couture show at the Wynn has also gotten well underway and it was a similar story there; retailers have come to buy, and not just smaller, lower-cost items.
One example of this is British designer Shaun Leane who has gone against the flow by focusing less on his silver collection and producing more fine jewelry collections. “So far it’s been very positive,” he said. “Last year was our first year exhibiting here and people remembered us and have already been back to visit. I’m very optimistic; the American market is on the up.”
JCK Las Vegas and Couture run until June 4.
