Blue Star Group Founder Vasantlal Mehta Passes Away

(IDEX Online News) – Vasantlal Laxmichand Mehta, founder of the Blue Star Group and Arjav Diamonds, passed away in Mumbai on June 17. Mehta was 82.  

Mehta, who came from Palanpur, began his career as a diamond broker in Zaveri. He founded Blue Star in Mumbai in 1966, and over the next 10 years brought his three sons, Akshay, Anuj and Ashit, into the business. Today the third generation of the family is involved in the company.

According to Blue Star, Mehta was an advocate of the HUF (Hindu Undivided Family) idea. Unity and family was most important to him. These values, say the company, extend throughout the Blue Star Group. “All employees are considered members of one family, sharing bonds of mutual trust, support, responsibility and respect.”

In the latter part of his life, Mehta moved to Pondicherry in devotion of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram.
