Rio Tinto Launches First Sustainable Jewelry Collection

(IDEX Online News) – Using gold from the Kennecott Utah Copper mine and white and champagne diamonds from the Argyle diamond mine in Australia, Rio Tinto has launched its inaugural sustainable jewelry collection.

The "Nature’s Beauty" line comprises earrings, rings, necklace and cuffs. It is being trialed in the U.S.

“Today’s consumer is looking for assurance that the jewelry they buy has been produced to the highest ethical, social and environmental standards,” said Rio Tinto Diamonds' chief commercial officer, Jean-Marc Lieberherr.

Rio Tinto recently became the first miner certified by Responsible Jewellery Council.
