Alrosa Does Not Expect Growth in Sales or Production this year or Next

The Russian diamond monopoly said it expects stable demand and supply in the first quarter of 2013, with a moderate growth.
According to a company statement from this morning (Monday), Alrosa plans to produce 34.5 million carats in 2013, in line with expected production this year.
A little under a third of next year's production, about 10 million carats, will be produced from underground mines.
In 2011, Alrosa produced 34.6 million carats and sold $4.45 billion worth of rough diamonds. In October, Alrosa adjusted its 2012 sales forecast to $4.59 billion. It expects rough diamond production in 2012 to total 34.4 million carats
