(IDEX Online News) – Leading local and foreign diamond industry figures, as well as major Russian politicians, will be among the guests of Kristall Production Corporation, Russia's largest diamond manufacturer, when it celebrates its 50th anniversary on May 24.
The Russian dignitaries who will take part in the by-invitation-only event include Anton Siluanov, the Russian Federation's Minister of Finance, Yegor Borisov, president of the Sakha Republic where most of Alrosa's operations are located, Fyodor Andreev, president of Alrosa, and Vladimir Rybkin, head of Gokhran, the state precious metals and gems repository of the Russian Federation.
Kristall Production Corp is the only diamond manufacturer that continued to operate after the fall of the former Soviet Union, and since that time Kristall has significantly raised its output of polished diamonds.
Since its establishment in 1963, the Diamond Trading Company sightholder has polished 80.5 million diamonds with a total weight of 9.3 million carats. The government-owned firm specializes in top-quality cutting and polishing, and markets the Triple X Russian Cut.
Kristall's importance to the Russian economy is underscored by the fact that it is on Russia's official list of strategically important corporations and operates under the direct control of the president of Russia.
