Exceptionally Large Rough in Lucara Tender

(IDEX Online News) – A number of very large rough diamonds from Lucara Diamonds’ Karowe mine in Botswana, including a diamond of 239 carats and another of 123.63 carats, are on view ahead of a tender.

The 15 diamonds are part of the company’s first tender of Specials.

Lucara’s large and exceptional stones have been available for viewing in Gaborone, Botswana, since April 26. That viewing ends today (Tuesday), with the diamonds being available for viewing at the offices of brokers Bonas in Antwerp, Belgium, May 3 - 22.

The smallest diamond on tender is an 11.46-carat stone, while nine of the diamonds weigh more than 35 carats.

Karowe has produced two blue diamonds in the past year. The mine is expected to produce up to 400,000 carats annually.
