KP Chair Nhlapo to be Keynote Speaker at Angolan Conference

(IDEX Online News) – Kimberley Process Chair Whelile Nhlapo will be the keynote speaker at the June 21-22 Angolan Diamond Centenary Conference in Luanda.

"I look forward to an opportunity to present to the conference the vision which this Chairmanship has sought to pursue at a time when many new initiatives around the minerals in African producing countries take place," said Ambassador Nhlapo.
"The Kimberley Process was a crucial development in Africa's beneficiation efforts and we should all watch closely that these efforts continue to be pursued by all actors in the diamond and jewelry scene."
Other speakers on the first day of the event include Eli Izhakoff, outgoing President of the World Diamond Council, Fyodor Andreev, CEO of Alrosa, Mark Van Bockstael, Chair of the KP Working Group of Diamond Experts, and Susan Shabangu, South Africa’s Minister of Mineral Resources.
In addition, speakers include Obert Moses Mpofu, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, Isak Katali, Namibia’s Minister of Mines and Energy, Martin Kabwelulu Labilo, the Republic of Congo’s Minister of Mining, and Kitso O. Mokaila, Botswana’s Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources.
On the second day, participants include Peter Meeus, Chairman of the Dubai Diamond Exchange, Reuven Kaufman, President of the Diamond Dealers’ Club of New York, Vipul Shah, Chairman of India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, and Qiang Lin, President of the Shanghai Diamond Exchange.
