(IDEX Online News) – The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the International Diamond Manufacturers (IDMA) have moved to assure delegates that it is safe to attend the Presidents Meeting in Istanbul following the riots of the past week.
WFDB President
Ernie Blom.
"We have spoken to the Presidents' Meeting organisers in Istanbul this morning and had feedback that the riots have toned down dramatically and that the Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is expected back in the country today," the organizations said in a statement.
"The prediction that rioting will come to an end well before we all arrive in Istanbul for the meetings is certainly on track and we are confident that this chapter in Turkish history will have been relegated to history by next weekend when our meetings are due to start," said WFDB and IDMA heads Ernie Blom and Maxim Shkadov.
