Empowering Others: How the Industry is Making a Difference

Every so often, it is worth taking a step back and thinking about the wider implications of our industry. Diamonds and gemstones are beautiful, to be sure, but they represent much more than what is apparent at first glance.

While much has been written about the negative implications of the trade, we believe not enough focus has been placed on the positive effects of our industry.

Sure, buying diamonds and gemstones from countries such as South Africa, Botswana and Tanzania help fill the coffers of the governments – helping them to improve the lives of their citizens indirectly– but at a more grassroots level, various organizations are working to enrich and empower these citizens directly. 

This month, we take a look at some diverse groups that are dedicated to uplifting people in the countries that through their rich mineral resources enrich our lives.
