(IDEX Online News) – Abu Dhabi airport customs authorities have caught a man trying to smuggle 129 diamonds into the country that were allegedly hidden in a sock.

 

The man was stopped after officials noticed that he was showing signs of stress and anxiety. A search of his bag uncovered a sock with the diamonds, with a value of $65,000 hidden inside.

 

Reports did not indicate from which country the man had arrived.

 

There have been consistent reports of attempts to smuggle diamonds into the United Arab Emirates.
