Indian Polished Diamond Exports Rise 22% in June
July 15, 13(IDEX Online News) – Indian exports of polished diamonds increased by 22 percent on the year to $1.48 billion in June 2013, according to provisional figures from the Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).
In the April-June period, polished exports rose by 34.3 percent to $5.09 billion.
Meanwhile, imports of polished goods surged by 150.6 percent to $695.3 million in June, and by 96.0 percent to $1.63 billion.
In rough diamonds, imports rose 14.9 percent to $1.37 billion in June, and by 25.8 percent to $4.94 billion in the April-June period.
Rough exports in June declined by 1.1 percent to $111.8 million, but in the April-June period amounted to $488.4 million, a rise of 41.5 percent.
