Lloyd's of London to Offer $1.3M Reward For Cannes Robbery Help
August 07, 13A lone armed thief stole the jewelry belonging to the company of Israeli diamond tycoon Lev Leviev. The 72 jewelry items were on show at an exhibit called Extraordinary Diamonds that started on July 20 and was due to end on August 30
The robbery was the largest ever in France, easily beating the $106 million jewelry theft at the Harry Winston store in Paris in 2008.
The robber, wearing a mask and gloves forced employees to put most of the jewelry items, of which 34 were considered exceptional, in a bag.
The reward money will be paid depending on the quality of the information and number of items recovered, and it is subject to certain unspecified conditions, according to media reports.
