New Surprise Format at JIC’s GEM Awards

(IDEX Online News) – Jewelry Information Center (JIC), the consumer education arm of Jewelers of America, has announced that at its12th-annual GEM Awards gala it will debut a new format that will announce the winners live during the ceremony for three of its GEM Awards categories: Communications, Design and Media Excellence.

The recipient of the GEM Award for Lifetime Achievement and the nominees in the other categories will be announced in the coming weeks.  

The 2014 nominees are reviewed and selected by the GEM Awards committee. A large panel of industry influencers will vote on the nominees by secure and confidential ballots.

“A GEM Award nomination is a remarkable honor and we are thrilled to formally recognize the nominees’ hard work and excellence in their fields,” said GEM Awards chair Rachel Branch. “Similar to award shows like the Academy Awards, the live format will also add anticipation and excitement to the ceremony.”

The GEM Awards gala will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.
