De Beers Presents Special Award to Willie Nagel

(IDEX Online News) –Veteran De Beers broker Willie Nagel received a special award for his decades of service to De Beers sightholders Willy in London recently.

Varda Shine, Executive Vice President of Global Sightholder Sales, presented a silver plate to Nagel, describing him as the “Quintessential Broker”.

“Since the 1950s, he has been a distinguished personality in the diamond industry having served as one of the brokers in the diamond industry since 1959,” Shine said.

“He worked tirelessly to assist both the British Foreign Office and the US government to find a resolution to the conflict diamond situation in Africa and initiated the concept of a "Chain of Warranties" which now forms the basis of UN Resolutions intended to regulate the trade and he is therefore part of the establishment of the Kimberley Process.

“To us he is simply regarded as the quintessential broker. For many years we have valued his insight and determination and we wish him many more years to come.
