Indian Polished Diamond Exports Soar 55% in October

(IDEX Online News) – India's Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) reported a 55.6-percent rise on the year in polished diamond exports for October to $2.155 billion.

For the first fiscal year so far (April to October), India's polished diamond exports have jumped 36.7 percent to $12.49 billion.

Imports of polished goods soared by 58.4 percent to $585.2 million in October, and by 65.5 percent to $3.96 billion in the April to October period.

Meanwhile, rough diamond imports slumped 18.3 percent year on year to $1.22 billion in October, but increased by 15.3 percent in April-October to $9.79 billion.

Exports of rough diamonds soared 70.7 percent to $170.1 million, while for the April to October period rough exports rose 15.8 percent to $979.6 million.
