Singer Chaka Khan To Headline Diamond Empowerment Fund’s JCK Event

(IDEX Online News) – Ten-time Grammy Award winner Chaka Khan will be the headline performer at the Diamond Empowerment Fund’s (DEF) Diamonds in the Sky Las Vegas Gala on May 29.

The DEF said the sold-out event will start with the presentation to Botswana President Ian Khama and his country’s government with the Global Diamond Industry Achievement Award to celebrate the good diamonds do for communities around the world.

Khan established the Chaka Khan Foundation in 1999 to assist women and children at risk.

Phyllis Bergman, president of DEF’s board of directors, said, “We couldn’t be more honored to have such a musical legend perform at this important event that recognizes the importance of giving back.”

Sponsors of the event include Rio Tinto, Signet Jewelers Ltd., De Beers, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited, KGK Group, Le Vian Corporation, and Tiffany & Co.

The Diamond Empowerment Fund was co-founded by Russell Simmons and leaders of the diamond industry in 2007 to empower diamond communities around the world.
