Sotheby's Appoints Wickstrom To New Jewelry and Watch Role
July 13, 14Wickstrom's task in the newly created position, will be to formulate and carry out an expansion in activity and sales growth in jewelry and watches, which have seen record sales figures in the past few years.
In the new position, Wickstrom will work closely with David Bennett, Lisa Hubbard and Quek Chin Yeow, the company’s three Jewelry chairpeople, Tim Bourne, who is worldwide head of Watches, and Patti Wong, chairman of Sotheby’s Diamonds.
Wickstrom will supervise the firm's work in North America, Europe and Asia, as well as growing Sotheby’s Diamonds retail business and related private sales activity.
Wickstrom is a longtime Sotheby’s employee, having joined the auction house in 1996. He was named executive VP and deputy chairman, Asia, in 2008. He helped grow the firm's sales in Asia, especially in China. Sotheby’s sales in Asia passed the $1 billion mark in 2011.
Sotheby’s saw its highest-ever annual sales for its jewelry and watch categories last year.
