India International Jewellery Show Kicks Off
July 17, 14(IDEX Online News) – The India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) has opened in Mumbai with a somewhat subdued beginning.
“As we all know, tradeshows usually start off a little slowly,” said one Indian manufacturer. “It’s no surprise. In recent years, we have become accustomed to buyers and visitors doing their ‘window shopping’ on the first day or two.
“No-one is in a hurry to buy and potential clients want to get a good understanding of what’s on offer before they make any decisions. We would expect today to be rather quiet and to see more activity from tomorrow onwards.”
The July 17-21 trade fair at the Bombay Exhibition Centre is taking place several weeks earlier than in previous years due to the Diwali festival this year falling earlier. The IIJS was preceded by the India International Jewellery Week in Mumbai which started on July 13 and closes today.
