JFC Announces 2014 Local Grants Program
August 25, 14
(IDEX Online News) – Industry charity Jewelers for Children (JFC) has announced the 2014 edition of its Local Grants program. JFC has set aside $100,000 to be used for 10 grants, valued at $10,000 each, that will be given to local organizations.
The organizations will be nominated by independent jewelers. Once a final list of nominated charities has been compiled, the nominating retailer will be responsible for generating votes for their chosen charity on a Facebook-based campaign on JFC's page.
The nomination period for charities will run from September 1 until September 30. The voting process will take place over a two-week period beginning on October 6. The top 10 charities will be announced on October 22, and grants will be made before the end of the year.
Each of the 10 jewelers who nominate the winning charities will be presenting the grant from JFC directly to the charity on behalf of JFC.
“Last year Day’s Jewelers participated in JFC’s Local Grants Program,” said Jeff Corey of Day's Jewelers, who is also a JFC board member. “We were able to earn a $10,000 grant for Camp Sunshine, a local charity dedicated to children in need. It was a wonderful opportunity for Day’s, our customers and our community to work together to help kids locally through JFC.”
Jewelers for Children was founded in 1999 by the US jewelry industry with the mission of helping children in need. Since its inception, JFC has donated more than $45 million to programs benefiting children whose lives have been affected by illness, abuse, or neglect.
