Middle East Gems and Jewellery Forum Takes Place In Dubai
November 09, 14DMCC Executive Chairman Ahmed Bin Sulayem told delegates of the synergies between the jewelry industry and the UAE’s heritage, trade story and rapid evolution with a focus on pearls, gold, diamond and colored stones.
He said that one of the key aims of hosting the forum to foster further industry growth in the region and beyond, and stressed the importance of strong collaboration between industry participants, ranging from traders to regulators, banks and jewelers.
With the UAE having the highest per capita gold jewelry consumption in the world and Dubai ranking among the world’s top three trading hubs for gold, diamonds and gemstones, it was "fitting that DMCC is now organizing the first Middle East Gems and Jewellery Forum in Dubai.
“In an ever-changing economy, it is key that we learn more about what the future holds for the industry here at the MEGJF and we hope the event will lead to new partnerships being formed and ultimately future growth to the benefit of the entire jewelry trade."
The key themes of the gathering include current trends and consumer preferences in the gemstone markets, potential future opportunities for the Middle East jewelry market, and regional sources of inspiration for jewelry designs.
A number of panel debates will discuss themes such as 'The Middle East jewelry market today: what factors drive growth?', 'Gemstones: identifying new markets', 'Jewelry design and inspirations in the Middle East' and 'The success of the jewelry market in Turkey'.
World Diamond Mark Chairman Alex Popov spoke on the subject of 'Diamonds' share of today’s luxury spending’.
Meanwhile, Matteo Marzotto, President of Fiera di Vicenza, announced that the inaugural Vincenzaoro Dubai jewelry show will take place in Dubai from April 23 to 26.
