Alrosa Elects New President
April 23, 15(IDEX Online News) – Russian mining company Alrosa has appointed Andrey Zharkov as its new president. Zharkov’s election by the Supervisory Board of Alrosa follows the untimely death of former president and CEO Fyodor Andreev.
The Swiss-born Zharkov has worked in a variety of industries. His latest position was a deputy head of Gokhran, the precious metals and gems repository under the Russian Ministry of Finance, and was chairman of the board of directors at Kristall Production Corporation.
Previously, he held the post of chief commercial officer at Prioksky Non-Ferrous Metals Plant and sat on the board of directors of Novosibirsk Refinery Plant. He was also served as the head of precious metals transactions at the Bank of Russia.
Zharkov has signed a three-year contract at Alrosa.
