Alrosa Hopeful for New Botswana Diamond Find
June 10, 15(IDEX Online News) – Russian diamond miner ALROSA announced that its recent research has indicated that a new diamondiferous kimberlite would emerge in Botswana, according to John Teeling, executive chairman of Botswana Diamonds.
“We want to find a kimberlite. They believe explicitly that they can find a diamondiferous kimberlite and their analysis indicates that they will find a diamondiferous kimberlite by Christmas,” said Teeling, according to reports in Creamer Media’s Engineering News.
Teeling said that Alrosa’s approach to finding kimberlites utilized electrical impulses, rather than magnetics, and this led to speeding up exploration by allowing mineral assessments on-site.
Alrosa has partnered Botswana Diamonds on numerous programs since 2013 and is utilizing the same technology that helped the Russian company discover 17 diamond mines in Siberia.
