Fatality Reported at Kimberley Diamonds’ Lerala Mine

(IDEX Online News) – Kimberley Diamonds, and its subsidiary Lerala Diamond Mines Limited, has reported the death of one of its workers at the Lerala Mine in Botswana.
The company said an employee working as part of the care-and-maintenance team was involved in a fatal incident on Wednesday. All activities at the mine have been halted, pending a full review of operating and health-and-safety procedures.
A full investigation into the incident is also being undertaken.
The company is targeting a production rate at Lerala of approximately 400,000 carats per year.
