Multi-Million Pound Gemstone Collection to be Sold by John Pye Auctions
July 12, 15(IDEX Online News) – John Pye Auctions is selling a private gemstone collection, one of Europe’s largest, in a multi-million pound international online auction sale.
The 680-piece collection, which has been amassed over a period of 40 years, includes rubies, emeralds, tanzanites and sapphires, and will be sold by John Pye’s Luxury Assets Division.
The collection has an estimated worth of $8 million ($12.4 million) and includes a matching set of 35-carat Zambian emerald earrings with an estimated value of £500,000 to £600,000 ($776,000 to $931,000).
The pieces in the collection were originally bought as loose gems, but have been mounted into jewelry items to make them more saleable.
“This is quite simply a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy from an exquisite and extremely valuable collection of gemstones. We believe the collection to be certainly the largest in the UK, if not Europe, said John Pye gemstone Valuer Ian Hall.
“Every gemstone in the collection has its own independently-issued certificate, a guarantee of both authenticity and quality, including Gem Research Swisslab (GRS) Certificates showing that they are the purest quality in their natural form.”
According to the auction house’s website, the reserve prices are conservative and considerably below retail value.
The first part of the auction will be held in September and will consist of 345 stones.
